This course provides a comprehensive introduction to the principles and practices of clinical pathology, tailored specifically for students of Medical Laboratory Technology (MMLT). It focuses on the study of disease through the examination of blood, body fluids, and tissues, enabling students to understand the laboratory’s role in diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment monitoring.
Students will learn essential laboratory techniques used in hematology, clinical biochemistry, microbiology, and immunology. The course emphasizes the identification of normal and abnormal findings, interpretation of laboratory results, and the correlation of these findings with clinical conditions. Practical training is a key component, allowing students to develop technical skills in specimen collection, handling, processing, and analysis while maintaining quality control and safety standards.
By the end of the course, students will be equipped with the knowledge and skills required to perform routine clinical pathology tests, ensure accuracy and reliability in laboratory results, and contribute effectively as healthcare professionals in diagnostic laboratories.
